MEETING
MINUTES—JANUARY 14, 2008
1. Called meeting to order @ 6:00PM, Joseph Mattei & Marvin Peck
present;
Jim Richardson is plowing snow
2. Reviewed mail - DOR law department notified board that "Home
Rule" does
not extend to taxation - a town cannot vote to not assess the farm animal
excise (G.L. c. 59 Sect. 8A is not a local acceptance or optional provision)
3. Discussed problems with our color printer - needs new fuser assembly

the cost is approximately $175 for the fuser plus estimate of $100 for
labor -
new printer cost is $299 for same model - Bruce will check again with
Uplink who
services HP printers
Bruce is looking into buying new fuser assembly on-line
and we might try to install
ourselves - part is $95.00
Purchased new Brother black laser printer for $69.98 after rebates to
use temporarily

5. Signed FY2008 Real Estate & Personal Property Commitments
6. Signed bill payable for deeds
7. Signed letter to Shelburne Fire District agreeing to send preliminary
tax bills
beginning fiscal year 2009
8. Signed Motor Vehicle Excise abatements
9. Signed Exemptions
10. Reviewed FY2009 Budget for submission - salaries increased by 2.5%

Expenses increased by 2% per Selectboard- $1,500 will be transferred
from assessors'
Contracted Services account to Expense account on an article at Special
town meeting
in February - only $49 left in expense account
11. Reviewed Map 16 Lot 8 number of acres is incorrect on bill - should
be 222 acres
Only billed for 177 acres need to send revised bill for tax difference
Bruce will check other large parcels in data base
12. Robert Spencer was in prior to meeting to discuss Lot 88 on Bridge
Street which was still
Being billed to him on preliminary bills - corrected to Bolio for new
bills -
Assessors will abate for FY2008
