Selectmen Meeting Minutes — October 21, 2008—3:30 p.m. — Memorial Hall

Call to order: the meeting was called to order by Chairman Robert Manners. Other members present: John Payne and Joseph Judd.

Order of Business:

2nd Round Interviews for Part-time Clerical Staff for Town Boards: members of the Board met with the two remaining finalists seeking the part-time clerical positions for the Board of Health, Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board.

Following the interviews, a motion was made by Joe to hire Faye Whitney of Ashfield, MA to serve as the part-time clerk for the Planning Board and the Zoning Board and to hire Linda Bickford of Rowe, MA to serve as the part-time Board of Health Clerk with the understanding that if conflicts arise in meeting schedules, the two could cover for one another. John seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:
Tax Collection - John reported that he has met with the Town Collector to review those accounts that have been delinquent from year 2007 and prior. They have developed a multi-tiered action plan for collection.

Sale of Highway Trucks - Bob reported that the town has found a buyer for two of the highway department's retired trucks (1982 and 1984 Internationals) after having advertising them for sale in the town yard. The 1982 truck sold for $652 and the 1984 truck sold for $1,275.

Adjournment: a motion was made by John to adjourn the meeting at 4:52 p.m. Joe seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
