Who we are:
The Zoning Board of Appeals is an appointed body consisting of five members and
three alternate members. Each member is appointed to a five-year term.
Members of the ZBA operate under the authority of M.G.L. Chapter 40A when implementing
aspects of Shelburne’s Zoning By-Laws.
What we do:
The Zoning Board of Appeals holds public hearings and acts on applications for
Special Permits, Variances, Appeals of actions of the Building Inspector and
Comprehensive Permits. All meetings and public hearings of the ZBA are
open to the public. Hearings are advertised in the local newspaper and
abutters are notified at least two weeks in advance of the hearing.
